Wut? The EU has been clear from the start that the UK would be out on 31 March 2019. If the UK requests any transition deal beyond that, the condition is that EU law continues to apply during that time. 31 December 2020 is mentioned as the end date.

The rest is just the UK echo chamber.......

Agreed, its the first time I've seen anything where the EU actually acknowledges that they need to adjust their budgets.

It's the first time it's been made explicitly clear by Juncker in public. I would guess Germany will have been pressing other EU memberstates to step up their funding once we've gone. Otherwise it'll be the Germans who will have to shoulder the funding gap.

Only because you stick to reading the UK press. (I am always surprised by the quality of the Irish coverage, compared to that from the UK.) The responsible Commissioner, Oettinger, put the question to the Member States already in July. At this stage I would expect heated but discreet negotiations behind closed doors. it is a budget negotiation, after all....

Wouldn't necessarily stop the bill from gaining Royal Assent but it would likely cause a devolution crisis, Westminster can only act on matters that effect Scotland directly with consent from the Scottish Parliament - Holyrood’s Finance and Constitution Committee will not recommend consent to the EU Withdrawal Bill in its current form - News & Parliament TV :                                    Scottish Parliament
