Are e-readers still too underdeveloped to be worthwhile?

My favourite term for this is 'pre-enjoyed'.

I no longer collect books and stack the unwanted ones up in a corner of a wardrobe like I used to. These days the surplus are recycled back to the 'pre-enjoyed' (thanks Steve ) book stalls on the market.

The point of my post was aimed fair and square at the Kindle (comparing books to the Kindle).

I've not used the feature myself, but I believe you can make notes/annotations on the Kindle.

I know what you mean about having the physical book.  I'll let you know how I feel about this as times goes on; I've only bought one or two Kindle books which I don't have in physical form already.

It arrived on Saturday It's not real leather (I didn't really expect it would be at that price), but it's a good faux leather and seems to have no faults, the bundled car charger is a bonus too. It fits perfectly and all the buttons and connections are easily accessed. We plan to leave a 5 star rating on amazon. My wife preferred the idea of having it enclosed by a fuller sleeve rather than the corner tabs designs.  As an added bonus the car charger also fits her Blackberry.

I prefer the look of the way the Kindle is held in place, rather then the corner strips.

I might be wrong and it makes no difference, but for a fiver I'm happy to take a pop.

Mrs Codehead has always been a very heavy reader of popular fiction and sci-fi/fantasy books. I bought a Kindle last year and I've only been able to get on the thing for about 3 days since. She has read 50  books on it and absolutely loves the thing.
I'm buying another one as she won't let me anywhere near 'hers'.

I have a lot of technical PDFs that I'd like to be able to browse, but initial tests with Calibre look pretty rubbish. However, I do plan to get all my all favourites (Pratchett, Feist, etc) and re-visit some stuff I haven't read for ages.

I too preferred this one for the non-corner-strip method of holding the Kindle...

For factual purposes, its actually £9.99 with postage costs
