I'm sure many people hate being stuck behind slow moving vehicles.

The A46 'bypasses' Evesham, the road is very wide for the most of it, 4 cars could fit almost comfortably, yet unnervingly, along side one another.

I was behind a vehicle going about 35mph along this 60mph stretch, it was far enough over the left that I could have easily passed. I wasn't sure if it was lazyness or stubborness, that I just sat behind the car doing 35mph.

There's a few foot between the white line at the edge of the road, and the actual edge of the road, in a generous effort to let me past he wildly veered over the white line. I was still too lazy to overtake and sat behind him, childlishly amused with myself.

I don't suppose there actually IS a law, that I should overtake vehicles impeding traffic? I feel I might start taking pleasure in not overtaking.

It should be a criminal offence to hold vehicles up on a main road.  I hate it when tractors allow streams of cars to back  up behind them...turns me purple with rage!

You're enjoying being as big a d-head as the bloke in front?
I don't get that, sorry.

Whilst there isn't a law saying you must overtake, there is a law stating that if you are causing an obstruction to traffic behind you, you should pull over and allow people to overtake.
So you and the guy you're sitting behind are chancing being pulled over and asked why you're going so slow.
If you don't have a good excuse, say hello to a charge of, I'm guessing, careless driving?

It is.
The highway code states slow moving vehicles should pull over.
So, in failing to do so, they are chancing a charge.

I guess as long as you're not contravening any traffic laws by staying behind him, I don't see it's a problem.

The only issue is that others behind you may get irritated and try overtake both you and the slow moving vehicle in one go. Providing you leave sufficient space for them to pull in should they have mis-timed their overtake it should be fine.

I do similar things on my motorbike sometimes. Some days I just like to bimble along and am quite happy sitting in traffic. The number of cars that move over, or flash their indicates to let me by is quite amazing. I think they expect bikers to just tear past all the traffic.

I don't think tractors are the main problem as they are normally quite easy to get passed (on the basis they are only doing ~20mph), the problem occurs when you get people doing 40 - 45 mph on a 60 road... that really hacks me off as you cant just fly by on a short stretch as you could with a tractor.

This behaviour, I just don't get.
I ride a bike, have done for 26 years.
I often sit behind people on bikes, sometimes stationery in queues.
Sorry, but what the **** is the point in being on a bike if you're going to ignore the major advantage, that being not having to sit in queues of traffic?
If you're going to behave like a car, be in a car!

I would love a minimum speed limit enforced.  That would be a stealth tax, I would happily welcome.

There's a really wide stretch of road similar to this where it is wide enough for 3 cars to pass with ease but there is no overtaking lane.

What really annoys me is when cars coming in the opposite direction just assume that you will move over to let them overtake. I don’t see why they just can’t wait for a break in the traffic.

That said, I do live near Bradford which many people I know describe as one of  the worst cities in the country for bad drivers.

Can't stand when drivers deliberately try to annoy others with "bad" driving like this, it's uncalled for, but as long as you're leaving room for others to pass then it's not so bad.
