I would say it depends what happens to them in the US.

If they get fined $$$$$$ then share prices will lower still.

And if they have to do massive recalls to fix things or whatever.  Personally I wouldn't be buying this now as it is setting new long-term lows and it's impossible to say what any support levels for the price might be.   Could be bottomless right now.  Could be profitable - a risky trade.

On the other hand buying a used VW could be a bargain in a while if their residuals take a big hit. As long as you're in the habit of keeping cars a good few years it will probably even out once people move onto the next scandal.

I wouldn't say that, yet.

It could be in a short while. You'd need to see what measures were required, if any, to modify the cars and see if their residuals take a hit. I can see some heavy discounting coming in the near future on new car sales to keep the manufacturing side moving along and that will have a knock on effect on used cars as well as discounting leasing costs on new cars.

All speculation though.

Audi have put up information and after checking my Q3 has the naughty software. I will be contacted in the near future for a 'service update'.

My car is affected too - 60 plate Golf GTD. It's already got to go in next week for a cambelt change and a new water pump, it's also due for an MOT by the end of the month, tax and insurance!

Is this 'naughty' software passive?
I.E., never triggered in normal driving?
Be interesting to see if people notice their cars driving differently, or MPG suffering.
