Absolutely. I drive a company car and replaced it just under a year ago. I ended up with another VW Golf.
Like many company car drivers I had a close eye on emissions, not to save the environment but because it prportionally defines the amount of tax I have to pay on the car. I also look for fuel economy because my daily round trip commute is over 70 miles.
So when looking at cars I looked carefully at emissions and fuel economy. In past years VW had a significant lead but now all the competitors have pretty much the same stats.
My feeling is that I can't believe that VW engines are so much worse than the competitors thar they have to cheat. So I'd put money on that, given all the competitor car stats are practically the same, they are all at it, all cheating the system.
Cheers,
