I always fancied the S2000. About 8 years ago, trawled around quite a few in the Midlands but never found the right one. Quite a few shabby examples.

So are those a case of buying based on bodywork as well? What about the engine? Do I remember it correctly that it isn't turbo charged, but naturally breathing yet very high revving?

I actually like those, and could be a future classic. Good shout on the S2000.

I think the rev limiter kicks in around 9000rpm in 2 gear and above (after the engine is warm). The VTEC selects a different cam profile after 6000 rpm, proper little screamers.

Yeah non turbo high revver. They drink oil. Good fun though. I had the civic type r and loved it. Same engine.
Defo watch the bodywork on the S2000.

I had the Prelude with the 2.2l VTEC (F22), I think the Civic had a slightly different 2.0l K20 engine.
The S2000's engine was a one-off design for RWD.

Another possible future classic is the Toyota Celica.

I can't stop myself from being drawn to C32s. Can pick up a well cared for model for around £5k with under 100k on the clock with FMBSH, and for that you get 350bhp from a supercharged 3.2 V6. Yes rust, yes supercharger, but the wife previously owned an SLK with the na 320 V6 and never got tired of it.

Someone please tell me it's not a good idea....

The XR4i and XR4x4 are starting to climb, but are still lower than Capris and Fast Escorts. Very usable and practical cars too.

Mk1 NA MX5s are going up and as the majority rust out. Rarer versions will be worth tracking down and keeping and spares availability is good. The NBs are rock bottom but wont start to go up in value for another 4-5 years but could be good for long term.

Mid to late 90s Volvos, Audi etc, if sports or rarer variants will become more collectable and even things like Mk1 Mondeos are rare and will attract people.

Personally I going to by a limited addition MX5 NCFL and keep it for years and enjoy it regardless.
