Practical classics

Having just gotten a Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI for my daughter reminded me how much fun cars used to be.

You know when the controls are actually connected to something.

As we were very lucky in finding an immaculate car that had the same caring owner for the last 23 years it’s a lot better than we expected to get.

As such we still have a some room for a project or another practical classic.

Does anyone has any other suggestions for something that is or will become a classic. For say less than £10K but can be a bit flexible with man maths

Ps. I’m not looking for slow classics, just something that is still fun to drive and sub 9s.

Unsure of the budget hitting or not but if I had a 1.9 Peugeot 205 GTi on the drive, next to my 310 bhp Golf R I know which one I’d be using for my urban commute

That’s pushing the budget quite a bit unfortunately.

They've been going up in value again the last couple of years, but I hadn't realised they were now £15-£20k. You'd still be able to get a project car under your budget though.

Here's a decent looking one for £9k.

I prefer this one from the same site under budget,
1971 Ford Capri 2300GT V6 For Sale | Car And Classic

or this which is POA and probably well over budget!
1972 FORD CAPRI PERANA - 5.0 V-8 - ULTRA RARE CAR !!! For Sale | Car And Classic

My son has just arrived in with a Belgian Chocolate Haagen Dazs for me, the Masters is on, and now I'm looking at a classic car site...if Carlsberg did Saturday nights
