So good news? Back to the dealer and point out it clearly didn’t have A/C when you bought it, for that reason.  They didn’t fix it and now they know what they need to do to do that and make the car as advertised.

To be fair the place we bought it from have now said they going to fix, using the warranty .

They are waiting for the part .

Heater box and labour, as they said its a dashboard out job, nearly 700 pound !

So you bought an 11 year old car with the aircon not working because it's a £700 fix, now the garage say the insurance/warranty company will pay for it.
Can't see it myself, they would have to lie and say it was working and broke while you had it, have the insurance company been in touch with you?

I see where you are coming from but if I was the OP I wouldn’t worry about it as long as the AC worked like the advert suggested it would. The dealer had a warranty at sale so maybe they are talking about that one. Maybe they have suggested it broke in the owners warranty. Probably arguable either way so a claim either way probably isn’t lying.

Ok,

Here we go LOL

Long story short

Car was purchased and money changed hands.
As keys were handed over the dealer said the car had a recall on it.
There was a problem with this model catching fire. something to do with the resistor and heater blower motor
(at this point i would have said give me money back , but the Mrs wanted the car.)
They couldn't repair it there and then as a part was needed and she wanted the car for work.
They took the resistor out for safety so the heater and blower didn't work at all.
However.

It took them too long to get the part and we were also told that the recall should be done by main dealer, so it went to the main dealer to get fixed.
once fixed we relised that we could not adjust the climate control the air coming out of the vents no matter what the setting, is around 27 degrees C
Main dealer says its not something they have done.
place of purchase says was working before recall work done.
(at this point i say get money back , but Mrs wants the car)

Manged to convince place of purchase to have a look at fix problem.

Turns out that there is a hole in the heater box causing the issue.

£200 for the part (not convinced of this i must say) and £700 labor to fix the issue.

A warranty of 6 months was supplied with the car.

They have contacted the warranty company and the repair has been approved through them, so the place of purchase is claiming through the warranty is that makes sense.

I have also heard from the company with an email confirmation.

Was supposed to have the part in today so the car can go in an get repaired.

Part is not in though could be tomorrow.

Friday is the last day of the 30 days to reject the car and get money back.

I have told the Mrs if the car has been taken in by Wed morning for repair then thats it, get the money back and go else where.

This has been some major agro !

Ok if they say it's approved no problem just let them fix it, the resister and fan replacement would be easy so find it hard to blame the dealer.

Right,

So been in touch with the garage today. Part still hasn't arrived.

I have told them that we are very keen to get this sorted now asap. They have said so are they but are at the mercy of other people.

I cant see this getting sorted until next week, as once they have the part they then have to book it on for the work on a day the garage has two people working.

I am very tempted to just say give me the money back. Time runs out for this on Friday , but i am wondering as it is an ongoing  issue whether we will have more time than the standard 30 days rejection period.

I think you are ok since the saga was started in the rejection period. You may find you have accepted a repair but I would get things in writing if you haven’t already. You want written confirmation the part exists new first. Then a delivery time. State what delivery time you think is unreasonable and when you will be rejecting the car. Ask for written agreement or you will reject the car on day 30. If the new part turns out to be unavailable you reserve the right to return the car as as if it was in the rejection period.

Be firm but polite but I think if you don’t put it in writing you are stuck with it and a possibility it isn’t fixed.

So it definitely wasn't the recall work which broke it?

I ask as mine needs the recall work doing, and my aircon / climate control works perfectly well at the moment (although, I generally have aircon switched off in the menu)
