im giving Gantz a 9 out of ten, it loses a point for the cop out ending. You couldn't call it anything else because the manga hadn't finished and while this is an amazing story its not an artsy show. its a beautiful mix of horror, sci-fi, and drama.
im a huge fan of anti-heroes but the protagonist in this isn't a hero or anti-hero, he's just a regular teenage high school student. that's whats awesome about it I think because he's not some unrealistic mild mannered good guy, or an angsty 'the world has done me wrong' and 'woe is me' character so easily portrayed in anime. He's a teenage boy going through what teenagers do.. only with aliens.
There's lots of blood and nudity, yet somehow its deeper then that. The show introduces death and the emotions that should come with it unlike your regular slasher/shoot 'em up. All I can say is you NEED to get behind this, check it out, I really doubt if you'd be disappointed.. till the ending then check out the manga.
score 9/10
