I believe it was Howard Hawks said a good film has three good scenes, and never annoys the audience. This film was annoying almost throughout.
Most of the characters, police investigators, were emotional basket cases. They're carrying out a complicated investigation. Meanwhile, at every turn, they're unloading their emotional baggage, or seducing each other. I had to fast forward every time I could see another burdensome outburst, just to get to the endgame.
The script was preposterous, but engaging. That's the only reason I put up with the irritating characters. Netflix busted on this original. I'm even annoyed writing about "Paranoid".
