White soft pure sand of fuertuventura over the black Rock of all the others was my draw in 2015'

Building sandcastles on Christmas day with my son what a beautiful thing.

I'll be careful with this question, it may offend but it's difficult to not ask.

What's the Irish x pat scene like in Lanzarote?

soupdragon Publish time 2-12-2019 22:25:29

I've no idea personally, I've been here 4 times now but bar the odd excursion, I'm mostly hotel based.

This week we have French, German, English, Irish, Scottish, Italian and of course, lots of Spanish.

Majority is Spanish and English and then a mix of everyone else.

I was driving from Puerto del carmen (Lanzarote) back to our hotel in playa blanca yesterday and as we reached a high point on the mountain pass, seen the most beautiful golden beach in the distance - was huge span of what looked like miles.

It was fuertuventura and I have to say, would love a trip there. No shortage of space on that beach to find a nice spot for the day data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

One thing I do is spend far too much time Google Street mapping and viewing the location, checking the condition of paintwork broadsides vandalism etc.

Caleta de fuste in fuertuventura is meant to be up market when you street view it, it looks quite run down.

Didn't realize Lanzarote and Fuertu was so close.

Less than 10 milesdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7No wonder you can see it so easily.Even from ground level.

Fancy a swim @soupdragondata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Yeah we go to Caleta de Fuste every May half term. Would thoroughly recommend it.

My girlfriends Aunt has property near Caleta De Fuste. The town isn't run down, it just suffered during the financial crisis when a lot of construction companies went bust - which is why there are many vacant properties and empty land.

I had the pleasure of staying at one of her Aunts properties last November. Quiet, great food in local restaurants and bars, not overly touristy. 26c in November and consistently nice weather all year around.
