Have to say the D850 does look good...wouldn't look forward to switching mind you, especially as I am very rarely at the limits of what my current kit can do.

Agree with that newbie 100%

Its a camera at a level and price point that will attract pros and semi pros as well as keen amateurs buying from a blank canvas and looking for the panacea.

As anyone seen confirmed release dates? Saw one post mention that stores will have 4th Sept for global distribution from 10th

My local dealer, Chiswick Cameras, will have one for demonstration purposes from the 7th September and may have models for sale the following week.

Awesome! Thank you

Ha! Just seen that Nikon are already saying that they cannot fulfill all the pre-orders for the D850.

I think the new trend is to sacrifice base DR in favour of DR at higher ISO. I hope that's not true with the D850.

Unfortunately that doesn't tell us too much as it's not got a score for base ISO. That being said the curve looks pretty similar to the D810's so that's promising.

I'm in the same boat, looks great but I'll be waiting a loooooooong time before I stumble across a used bargain I can (sort of) justify.

Will it make me a better photographer? nope just stops me blaming one aspect of my equipment
