You don't need to calibrate it, but it is recommended. It gives you instructions on what to do. It's just a case of walking a set distance so it can measure your stride to improve accuracy. I've not done it though, but I will.

Ive just got back from doing the yorkshire three peaks and tracked the whole thing.GPS was on for about 9 hours and it never missed a beat, still had about 20% battery left too.Only thing I couldn't work out was how to pause the walk tracking whilst we had lunch so I had to save the 1st session and then start a new one. When I've checked garmin connect though it has got a total time and a total moving time.Totally smashed my floors climbed and steps goal data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

It auto pauses if you change it in settings and you can also turn off auto lap etc.
You can also just use the right button for start/stop and will start again if you don't save or discard it.

I got mine about 3 weeks ago, I really love it so far, but MoveIQ hasn't worked for me once. I've checked both the watch and app setting and both are saying it is turned on.

If I've read things correctly you need to train it to recognise moveIQ. once you've recorded a couple of runs /walks/rides then it recognises what you are doing. Could be totally wrong though

That makes sense. Mine hasn't auto recorded swimming at all yet.

Wish this was the case with mine it keeps recording that I'm swimming when I have not been!! Also since the latest update my heart rate measure is out by on average 20bpm..! And it never logs flights of stairs at all..

Mine does not log any walks where I'm pushing the pushchair. Marvellous when I have two young girls! Might have to send this back. Even my ultra basic Fitbit recorded walking regardless of pushing a pram, hands in my pockets etc. Not impressed for £200.

I turned mine off and start the activity manually, much better to do that.

But that's a pain, and you need to remember to turn it off.
