Thanks. Think I am going to stick to the official FW for now. The beta doesn't list any fixes for stuff I have a problem with. The Garmin support is rubbish though. Estimated 3 days for a response, and I've been waiting 5.

Now checking the forums to see if anyone else has the same issue as me.

I'd be tempted to install the new firmware anyway mate if I was you to put my mind at rest. Maybe the last update you installed didn't install correctly!? So a clean firmware update might help.

I've not installed any updates since I bought it, unless it did one on setup (can't remember). Garmin seem to think it is normal not to track with a buggy as the tracking only works with a pendulum movement, which kinda makes sense, except my Fitbit could do it!

Mine updated on setup so I'm guessing yours probably will have as well. I've just tested again walking round Sainsbury holding a basket of beers and counted my steps......again they were updated on the device correctly. I personally think a fw upgrade will sort your probs.

It works for you on yours but it didn't on mine and i'm not alone in that.

Even my one now will not count steps with a stationary arm and it was twice the price!!!

I'm waiting on Garmin support, so want to keep the FW as it is, so they can try and diagnose if there is a fault.

I asked them about swimming and way it wasn't logging it as an activity for my Vitality Life insurance and they just came back answering a totally different question about why the stroke count might not be perfectly accurate! They apologised a week and a bit later saying they were really sorry and the question had been passed to a technical expert. That was 3 weeks ago, I still haven't heard anything. Like you say terrible support.

I cannot believe it, my Fenix has just had an update and it's only started to count steps with a stationary arm data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7, I'm now well chuffed with that, bonus!!!
