Fitbit are not continuous I was lead to believe. The garmin vivoactive is and will measure between 1-5 mins depending if you are doing an activity..

It can be random depending on movement I believe.

Hi guys,

I've just finished a session in the gym and thought I'd test out if the Garmin would recognisethe fact I was doing a few events. I walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes and it didn't recognise it. I then moved on to the cross trainer and did that for 15 minutes and that hasn't registered as an event either.

Am i expecting too much and it simply doesn't do this and I have to click on Indoor Walk and Cross trainer. Actually just checked on the watch and I was surprised to see Elliptical/Cross Trainer function not listed so maybe that's why it hasn't registered.

Has anyone else added Cross Trainer?

thanks for any helps.

Mine saw elliptical the other day and I hadn't been on one. It did recognise a walk automatically though. I would start it manually as will monitor HR and work out calories more accurately.

Mine has seen elliptical twice now on warm ups... So far been ok.. Also Warnie I agree why you can't set elliptical/cross trainer seems weird I have brought it up with garmin and they have passed my feedback on..

Am I going made or are there no tones on the watch?

Charged mine up today for the first time. I think it was 75% when I got it 3 days ago and was on 49%. Took an hour to charge back up to 100% so hopefully good for a week now.

I've just checked mine. 100% on Monday and I've just done a run using gps and it is now 56% - as far as I'm concerned that's pretty impressive!!

Tested the watch out tonight with a couple of swimming sessions and a sauna! First session was front crawl only and it worked well. Second session was breast stroke and again the watch worked well. it was reactive to swipes, didn't miss a beat and recorded everything accurately. No idea how it does it but it got the lengths bang on. Also tried a few lengths without activating an activity and the watch failed - but I'm beginning to think I have a problem with my watch as no activities are automatically tracked. Impressed with the swimming though.
