Just bought it today with that deal. My rounded calculations make it:

Nikon D3100   lens: £469 - £25 = £444 - 8% quidco (£35) = £409 - £40 cashback from Nikon = £369 which im really happy with.

Thanks for your post about Jessops as It ment I got the best deal, could pick it up from bluewater today and have a shop to take it back to if there`s a problem!

EDIT: the quico is before Tax so cashback is showing as £30.22 so total cost of the camera is £374 which is still great.

Hi Folks, newish member here.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of buying fron buyacamera.co.uk, I am thinking of buying their Twin Lens Kit package which consists of the Canon EOS 550D with 18-55mm IS Lens plus 55-250mm IS lens. The price comes in at £764.99 plus £6.99 delivery.

Also in terms of using the camera for HD Video, is it essential to invest in one for the faster Memory Cards, I was thinking of the Sandisk Extreme SDHC Up to 20MB/s, Class 6.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Evening all,

I have a very simple question but wasn't sure whether to put it in the photography section or the general cables section.

I've had my D5000 for a good 6 months now but only recently have I needed to display my pics on an HDTV. The manual says I need a 'Type C mini-pin HDMI cable'. Now, I've done some research and as with everything nowadays there are thousands of options and the prices vary hugely, which leaves me a bit confused.

I would really appreciate some advice on the following:
- What is considered to be a good cable?
- Where is it best to purchase from?
- And most importantly, do you need to spend a lot on a cable or will a cheaper one give similar results?

Many thanks.

They are pretty std. It is digital so if the cable fits it is good enough. They are only a few quid so you can't exactly make a big mistake. Ebay/Amazon ?

Thanks Clown.

It sounds like a ridiculous question, it's just that cables can vary so much in price that I wondered if the extra money would give you a significantly better quality cable. I don't want to compromise on quality and will happily spend more, as long as the benefit warrants the cost.

Considering what you've said, I'll get myself one of these:

Neet FLX - Mini HDMI to HDMI Cable - (2m) - 1080p Full HD - v1.3b - Type C (mini 19 pin) to Type A (std 19 pin) - Professional HDMI Lead

Yes that looks ideal. There is zero benefit in spending more on one though comet/currys sales people will try to convince you otherwise.

Avoidthose stores for cables data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7..data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Just last evening I saw one in Tesco for same cost too
Im unconvinced that spending more gets you anything special
Perhaps long runs to a projector ect where audio may suffer a bit otherwise ..No get a bog standard one and enjoy..data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Gift also offers zero buying/selling protection so take care.
