Will do, chap.I got it for development but mostly it got used to Elite. It's such a night and day difference that going back (for a few months) to 2D will be really tough.
At the moment they seem to be going for £300-£400, which will possibly be driven by them being out of stock with Oculus and harder to come by.

Voice capture's always been tricky, even for services like Google that use servers. It seems to work for certain commands, but for things like the map screen in Elite I don't mind using the keyboard - you sorta get used to it, especially if you can anchor it in such a way where your hands have a reference to where they are - even a piece of tape at the front-middle where your wrist hits, or the raised bumps on F J

Accurate voice capture relies on knowing the words you're trying to say. Elite has a gazillion of unpronounceable system names, some with punctuation, and isn't capable of searching based on a close guess. Phonetic alphabet and spelling the name to VoiceAttack is the only way.

I can see that this is going to let down the whole VR thing experience for me.Tried the rift and its was great, but using a game where there is a need to type quickly is going to detract so much from the experience for me, that I may not bother.

The challenge is on the developers to find a solution. I bet that Valve have a Vive controller driven pop-up keyboard already embedded in SteamVR, available to developers. The Steam controller's keyboard works very well, and the VR controllers have the two touchpads onboard.

The steam keyboards would probably just have a virtual keyboard... but after a while you do get pretty good at typing blind.

Currently on a job with a friend who owns a VR production company. He said its nailed on that Half Life 3 is coming to Vive and he thought it was going to be announced on Friday. Take it with a massive pinch of salt I guess. Had a quick search this evening and can see no scheduled events on google. I'd pay a grand for it though data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
