Will this force you to install Viveport or will you be able to just run steam?

The flip over looks amazing.

Stops lenses being scratches, glasses friendly, increased better ergonomics, easier to put on the headset...

I mean the fact the Index and Rift S didn't do it is clearly because of expenses. Its definitley next gen build quality from Gen 1.

aoaaron Publish time 2-12-2019 05:22:06

Exactly.

I have a Rift S but I'm interested in this. However leaving the Oculus infrastructure and eco-system is hella stability with amazing performance is difficult.

I think comparing this to a Rift S, its not a hard sell if its better than the Rift S, given the Rift S has no audio basically.

However my big gripe with all non oculus headsets is that all the new VR games I'm excitped for will be Oculus titles.

I totally understand where you are coming from on the Oculus software. Having just jumped over to the Valve Index I`m really missing some of the features of the Oculus software esp pinned apps and the browser.

Price is what we all want to know!

MikeKay1976 Publish time 2-12-2019 05:22:11

For me

Price
FOV (hopefully better than the Vive but i am not confident)
manual IPD adjustment?
tracking when compared with lighthouseand rift s
quality of steamVR support and availibility of Revive, Open XR?
battery life of controllers (AA or usb charge?)
quality of lenses- vive pro had a nice screen - at the time - but poor lenses

ArmitageShanks Publish time 2-12-2019 05:22:12

I think we already know after Argos dropped the ball and listed it for £700 last month? I'm inclined to believe that figure given HTC's pricing structure.

MikeKay1976 Publish time 2-12-2019 05:22:13

I am ok with £700 ( though it may have been place holder) however at that price it will need to be significantly better than the rift S esp as you are sacrificing native access to the oculus platform. I would say that is at the top of what I am prepared to pay
