I'm expecting £599 at least, but most likely £699 because it's HTC we're talking about here.

If it's £499 I think we'll see the Rift S dropping price to at least £349 next year, maybe even £299 if they fancy selling it at cost and their sales start to drop.

They're probably making ~£100 profit on each one sold at the moment I reckon and it's all about getting headsets on heads and customers in the Oculus Stores more than making money on the hardware.

All looks very nice... But that flip up, why bother //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gif

Tbh every time I sees this I just see a RiftS that won’t have warranty support.

Saves you from needing to use Passthrough, plus being able to flip the headset up and down will be a godsend for developers!

Argos are selling the Vive Cosmos for 700 quid:

It has to be good at that price.... having said that, if it is good and I mean very good - its a fair price for an all in one solution?

But then you remember the Samsung Oat $299...

@thesnowdog ...

I'm not feeling you're gonna get much view of the world here.

Looks like they've yanked it. Naughty Argos!

IF it has nailed on tracking, decent screens and a slight bump to FOV i could be tempted at £700

it is the higher end of what i want to pay but......

tbh for me the main issue is it isnt oculus.i just prefer the oculus infrastructure and the innovation of things like ASW2.

butif is is good enough i may jump ship

Not sure what my mental price limit is. I know index is past it (at least whilst I have working CV1).I suspect £700ish is about it..... Unless it is a massive upgrade in every respect at least (more than index is)

thesnowdog Publish time 2-12-2019 05:22:03

Yup, I would have been quite happy getting a Valve Index at the price it is if it had a Reverb resolution or a Pimax FOV but given its specs Valve can fudge right off.

With any HTC headset, regardless of specs on paper, you're better off waiting for reports on how the lenses are I think. Plus seeing what the inside out tracking is like.
