Toshiba Regza 55WL863 / 55YL863 Owners Thread
I thought I would start a thread on this fantastic set as there doesn't seem to be any as yet.Post all your related comments here. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I have just made a purchase! The set is listed for £1,544.95 on Amazon but they have a couple of used ones for sale sold by Amazon Warehouse so it will still have new purchase support.I bought it for £1,057.96 which is too good to refuse.Apparently it may have minor cosmetic damage but I will let you all know.Still one left! Also another one going for £1,190.21 which is apparently 'as new' condition also sold by Amazon. Hi Viper,
Nice one setting up our own section. Bought mine just after the new Year and well pleased with it.
I got mine for £1166 from Dixons. it seems there has been a price rise since then which is obviously pleasing to me but maybe not so much by you! Thanks MrFreeze (cool name by the way lol) Yes I see there has been a price hike.I'm hoping the one I got for £1,057.96 is at least in new(ish) condition; in which case I'll be happy with the £500 odd saving!I know that, should I not be satisfied I won't have any trouble at all getting my money back from Amazon.
Have you found any online settings for his set yet?Seems like it is going to be a pain to set up.
How do you find 3D SBS material with the latest firmware?Apparrently this is suppose to reduce crosstalk somewhat and sort out the red shortage.
I was thinking that maybe if we get enough people together we could all throw in £10 each or something and buy one of the Toshiba calibration tools. Then we would simply share it between us.What do you reckon? Here is an interesting read on the panel that is being used in the Toshiba WL863 / YL863 AUO shows off 16,000:1 contrast ratio AMVA displays | SemiAccurate Hey vipergrm are no longer happy with your samsung or is your decision based on wanting a larger tv, or have you just had enough of plasma?
i to was interested in this tv a long time ago but didn't see any discussions about it so it's good to have a thread on this particular tv as the reviews i have read about it have been pretty positive. Hopefully you will get a problem free set and i will be looking forward to your opinions about it. Bought one of these new from Amazon in January-setup was a breeze and haven't seen any backlight bleed or clouding problems - very pleased with it. Have canceled my Sky sub - fed up with paying to watch adverts!! - and am going to connect satelite feed to TV- I understand it is not freesat anybody done this and if so does it pick up any channels worth having?? Its strange as i actually asked the question a while back.

But then someone said this.
Aaron Hi - no not at all.I was happy with my D6900 but unfortunately I can only mount the TV and because the mounting holes on the TV were damaged (2 were loose and 1 had no thread at all) I was forced to return it.John Lewis don't stock them anymore so they gave me the option to wait or a refund.I've been waiting now for 2 weeks and every single time I enter the room I'm always paranoid that I'll find the TV in a pile of rubble data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
So, to be honest I want to send it back as quickly as possible.I would have been happy to get another one but given the fact the 2012 sets are just around the corner I was going to hold off and get one.It was always going to be between the Panasonic 50ST50 and the Samsung PS51E5600 (D6900 replacement). Both these prices are going to be £1,300 .I'm still not happy with how Panasonic dealt with the 'green blob' issue and there is absolutely no release dates anywhere for the E6500.I then came across this Toshiba set in 'Home Cinema Choice' and the review was incredible. It really ticks all the boxes for me - and getting it for just over £1k really was hard to resist. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
By the way - the 1019 firmware on the D6900 is awful. It has destroyed the contrast and black levels which were much better prior to 1019. Nice one!Clouding is/has always been my main concern with edge LED and the Toshiba seems to do well in this regard.
Apparently the channels you get are a lot of foreign nonsense free-to-air channels so I wouldn't expect there to be any channel at all worth having - unless you are learning another language data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
