JKH,
Did you solve the problem yet ?
And what do you mean by "I'm in the UK - what is Yamaha servicing like and where are they?"
As far as I know you can check on http://www.yamaha-uk.com/service/service_locator/ where the nearest service centre is in the UK , or did I miss something ?

I echo Robo's comments two-fold.I perform all editing/additions/subtractions of music via assistant.Like you, ripping with the cd drive after downloading music using assistant will freeze my player and the ability to view my HD music is lost.It certainly is a great product with a few glitches holding it back.
Can't wait for the assistant software fix.

Nope,
The HD has nothing to do with servicing the CD-player.
And if you're afraid they can 'accidentally' format the HD , just pull it out before bringing the Yamaha to them.

RoBoDutch
PS: I'm also waiting on the bug-fix

Hi RoboDutch
Just popping in to see how things are going with the 'Assistant Programme ' and if there is any news of the possible fix.
I have noticed that 'Nonpoint' and 'Vitoray' have both acknowledged the problems we mentioned before.
At present I have stopped manually reloading CDs onto the new 400Gb disc, and I was just wondering if we were getting any nearer - not meaning to sound too impatient, just keeping in touch really.
Kind regards, NickAF

Wow, what a useful thread!Thank you RoBo Dutch.
I will have to try to make a back up disc.I do have a further question!
I got a used MusicCAST for $700 AUD with two clients from e-bay thinking I would be able to load the 500GB HD Drive from my CDR HD1500 into the MusicCAST.Yamaha has informed me that I cant do this as they have different proprietary set ups! ;-(
Does anybody know if I can transfer the music from my CDR HD1500 to my Computer and then to another 500GB Hard drive for the MusicCAST?

seb,
Yes, to get your music from the 1500 to a computer there is an export function with the "assistant" software.

Hi Sebcobb,
Don't use the PC for transferring files from a 1500 to a musiccast. Of course it is possible, but why don't you use the digital outdigital in ? Otherwise use the analog outanalog in ... there's hardly any quality lost. Just let the machines do all the work, don't interfere if you don't have to.
@All,
There's still no answer from the programmer.

Given all of the hassles with the CDR HD1300 (and presumably the CDR HD1500), does anyone know if one of the DVD recorders with a big hard disk will do the job of recording music CD tracks?

Hello, Craig here.I've just joined so I can participate in
this discussion about the Yamaha '1500.I have read with
interest every single post in the thread.I hope some of you guys are still reading.
Several people have mentionoed having trouble establishing communication between the '1500 and their computer via the RS-232 connection. There is one other, different thread about the '1500 where several people have evidently been successful at getting them to talk to each other, so it must be possible.
I, however, have tried and tried but have never gotten anything but the "Communication with the main unit could not be established" message.
Can anyone please offer me any advice on how to get this
function up-and-running?Is there any difference between what someone called a "null modem" cable and any other RS-232, 9-pin, D-connector cable? Also, because the Yamaha and the PC have the same connector on the back, am I introducing any problem with the male-to-female adaptor I am attaching to the cable?
I am fortunate enought to have an older PC that actually has an RS-232, or "serial" port on the back, so I don't have to use an RS-232 -to- USB converting cable.
I am running Windows XP-Home.I assume I have the current version of Yamaha's software, which I downloaded this summer (2008).
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!I started
entering song titles for the first few albums I recorded, but
then decided to wait until I get the PC communication working.
On that note, I can offer one small bit of advice for anyone
who is using the software successfully; you shouldn't need to type everything in.I have used Amazon (or any other
appropriate site) to get the track listings, and
copied-and-pasted the titles into a simple text file (.txt) set up in the format required by the Yamaha software.
Sincerely,
Craig
