Just finished decorating my living room so here's my marantz CR603 with dali zensor 1's. New canvas on the wall is one of my own pics shot with canon 5D mk2. Not as impressive a system as many on this thread but I'm pleased with it data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Finally built a new hi-fi rack. (based on the TNT flexy rack design) About £120 in total for 8 shelves. (would have been nearly £40 cheaper if i'd used exterior ply) Luckily the guy at B&Q cocked up one of the cuts and started again with a whole new sheet and gave me all the good cuts, so i have 14 shelves.

Parts ready - shelves drilled and waxed.
                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n605/_-Kei-_/HiFI/Rack1_zpsbd47d14a.jpg&hash=c3881a104bfeb0fe744a007478bb2d4b

Part way through construction. Dome nuts used for feet
                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n605/_-Kei-_/HiFI/Rack3_zps0c6c41a9.jpg&hash=38a64985134f10aad67971372e6feaed

                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n605/_-Kei-_/HiFI/Rack4_zps59031621.jpg&hash=02c85b54ccdb68f61f90cb06da77f4c6

Now i need to spend a few hours redoing the cabling, buy a new tele and a new centre speaker. (to somehow match my vintage kef speakers)

Kit on the rack - from the top
Thorens TD160B with an SME 3009 S2 improved tone arm, Shure M75ED Type 2 cartridge and a Jico SAS stylus

MMG's out, and the Restek and back to the Kolts with a Puresound A10 for the moment. Bit of a downsize in cost, rather than size with some new free speakers coming at the weekend for a bit of scale!

That rack looks pretty cool. Well done!

Are you going to leave it as it is, or possibly stain it at a later date? I think it looks good as it is.

Kei86 Publish time 28-11-2019 00:53:51

I'll leave it to age, which will hopefully darken the finish slightly. Wanted to stain it but most of the products i could find would have made it look too orange and rather unnatural.

Bedroom refit is going well, only got the TV and centre speaker left to sort out. The model railway layout is coming off the wall and being reconstructed in the loft and a DVD/bluray storage unit will be going between the speakers. (under the tv, and the centre will sit on top along with my N64) The shelving on the right needs a serious sort out.

Moved house back in the Autumn, so just whacked the system together while awaiting redecoration; much tidying needed.
