Panic averted it's back on.

Why do they need replacing every 5-7 years?

jimmya200 Publish time 26-11-2019 03:56:42

It's the nest protect which should be replaced after 7 years. Part of the sensor decays overtime and the accuracy can not be maintained. Most smoke detectors have a lifetime, something I didn't realise until I replaced mine with the nest protects. Coincidently my original detectors had just expired, I didn't realise until I removed them!

Cliff Publish time 26-11-2019 03:56:42

And you have to replace the whole unit? If so, that is expensive.

My nest has just arrived install date 6th of May... If contracts are done in time...
