Considering a nest as our wireless controller just died. But is it just a pretty face or does it genuinely save energy?

And any news yet on the v3? May be able to survive a few more weeks without heating if it is coming soon. If not, the current one seems functionally similar

I've been asking Nest on Facebook for weeks now, no straight answer. Keep saying made specifically made for US/CA market...however also said a cryptic 'can't comment on rumours of a new EU product' so take from that what you will. I'm dying to get it installed before winter hits however unlikely now frankly

Thanks. Can't wait that long as need a replacement. The longer range sensor sounded useful as it wouldn't be walked past regularly.

You can still get the 2nd gen, I just prefer the look and extra features on 3rd gen. Assume there's an app anyway

I've got a 2nd gen 2nd hand surplus to requirements...

Out of interest where did you buy and get installation from?

Can't remember the name but they are based in welwyn garden city. Used the nest website to search based on my postcode (Windsor..) And they were the top result with lots of positive reviews. Also I assume because they were linked through the best website they charge the standard £249 installed. I would expect ringing a random electrician could be more than that.

edit: Anark Electrical

I'd like to say mine looks nice too, but when we replaced the boiler the installers removed the old wires so no power available.

I'm now patching up the old hole so I can mount the nest - blanking plate not acceptable data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 and fish a USB extension cable thorugh the wall to a socket.

In the meantime it is sat on a chair constantly thinking we've left the house.

How are people setting theirs up? For now I've just put 19c for 6.30 in the morning, then down to 14 at night. Nothing in between so far.
