Assuming not much more today the £12K array on the roof generated £19.5kWh today. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
To put things in perspective, the homemade solar pool heater I made out of black hosepipe and a 3W £10 pump raised the temperature of the kids pool (4000 litres)from 20 deg to 25.7 deg today, which we calculate as roughly 26kWh equivelant data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

You sure your not heating waterworld data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
How long did it take to raise the temperture 5 deg? Also have you measured how long it takes the water to cool down if you turned your pump off?
Just wondering as most sunny days you get cloud cover so wondering if you get temperture drops between sunny spells.

Not sure dan, I looked at it at about 5:00pm.I don't think temperature drops are a problem during the day as air temps are higher than the water temps at the moment. But it does cool down overnight. It's a big heat sink though, when we went to bed it was still on 25.2.I didn't check first thing but it's at 22.7 and rising at the moment. So it ebbs and flows, it can still get quite cold overnight, only a week or so ago the average nightime temperature was around 4 deg.But each day it's managing to maintain an extra degree or so over the day before. It will be interesting to see what it gets to by the weekend.

Cheers Dave, You need to post some pics of your heat source and the pool. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I'll hold the ladder and you can climb up there data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I'll see what I can find... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Another important point is that as the solar collector is sited on a flat roof that's 26kWh heat that was diverted away from the roof, which can only help keep my son's bedroom cooler, which can get unspeakably hot in the summer.

So you've put it on your house roof then? I'm thinking about putting mine on a shed roof.

Nice, I managed 22.05kWh yesterday from my 3.2kW so I'm feeling happier now.
