On one hand the government and others in charge are saying we must show we have not given in to these terrible atrocities and show we are not frightened etc etc.
On the other hand the government has put armed troops in CEMO (or whatever its called) on the streets.
Mixed messages show a lack of decision and direction.

How on earth do you equate that to be sending out mixed messages?
Would you be happier if TM gave the Police a week off to 'show them we aren't scared' ?

Governments of all colour say the same thing. We heard it after 7/7 . The same in France and Germany. We are strong, it will not divide us etc etc.
Are we hoping after saying this they will go away?
Pretty meaningless words but the script never changes.

All we appear to be doing at the moment is managing the risk and not attacking the root causes of the problem given Politicians really don't like upsetting people if it loses votes. Whatever we do will be seen as a gift to the extremists, so we have to think very carefully about how we proceed going forwards, resist knee jerk policies and so on. Funny thing is this situation is a gift to Jihadists and those on the Extreme Right Wing who want to cause chaos amongst communities for their own ends, while mainstream Politicians pontificate about British values and conjure up images of Churchill etc. We've yet to have a rational debate about the problems that exist in society that may cause some to become violent. Political Correctness has likely stifled that debate.
