Scotland would not vote for independence if they were given the vote now or in the next few years especially if the EU started to break up.

Confirmed, British Government has come out firmly against Catalan independence:
UK 'won't recognise' Catalan independence

The Scottish government has said "it understands and respected Catalonia's position".

Plaid Cymru have allegedly come out for Catalan independence (although I haven't seen this confirmed yet).

Meanwhile Spain moves to suppress the Catalans. Cracks...disputes...political fragmentation...I wonder if we are looking down the barrel of the unthinkable - another European war? Let us hope not.

In other news, another part of Europe isn't happy being in the EU,

I think they need to seek out Danny Wallace for advice, he's got the experience.

Rasczak Publish time 26-11-2019 02:14:43

ah yes the promised neverendum, you honestly think a minority vote every 5 years that forces a referendum is reasonable, you know some of us want stability, investment etc, not SNP fantasy.

37% for independence parties last GE, still think it's reasonable? these things should be very rare, like for 40years, not every 5

GarryF, I get your point and I can assure you after the last referendum where I was a No! voter and my OH a Yes! voter, I am in no massive rush to repeat the experience. However I think that after 2 or 3 more (lost) referendums, the issue of Scottish independence would die. Given the Catalan and Brexit situation, it might be worth settling the issue sooner rather than later.

Another nail in the coffin for the EU bringing countries together.

Madrid, have a glass of sangria and watch Passport to Pimlico while taking notes.
