We have the ASA to stop misleading advertising for goods/services so why shouldn’t MPs be held accountable for what they say during campaigning, which is considerably more important than the sale of a single product?
This case has been brought against Boris because it was so public and contentious, and he’s being used as a yard stick.He’s not going to get a prison sentence, or even a fine, but if it stops future campaigns using deliberately ambiguous financials to benefit their marketing then I don’t see how it’s a bad thing?
