Are you saying it wasn't reported? I've heard of it.

The US didnt start economic sanctions on Venezuela until 2017 and then it was only banning the buying of Venezuelan debt. The Venezuelan economic crisis started in 2010.. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Read what I said again, equal reporting is required.

Sonic67 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:43:00

It needs to be equal racism for equal reporting.

ostewart Publish time 25-11-2019 21:43:00

Show me the stats that show it is not equal. There have been reports about anti-Semitism from members but I'm struggling to find numbers for MP's who have been accused of it.

The islamophobic article clearly states that the investigation is open for 25 councillors and not just members.

Either way, I have found the media to be incredible biased recently and all prejudice and hatred needs to be tackled.

Sonic67 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:43:01

Wasn't your point that it wasn't all being equally reported?

to caveat this post - no one regardless of race, creed and religion etc. should face any abuse etc.

the real problem is that people try to equate anti-semitism and Islamaphobia.

They are not the same thing. One is directed at a people who have historically been marginalised and millions persecuted and mass slaughtered. The other is a word made up initially by Islamic extremists to stifle and shutdown debate on a religion/belief/ideas.

all ideas should be up for debate and scrutiny and not all ideas are equal.

now if people within any walk of life are found to be racist toward the people (Muslims) then they should feel the weight of the law. However, scrutinising the religion and beliefs is a different kettle of fish this is where the accusation of Islamaphobia falls down because often it is used to shut down debate on ideas - not people.

ostewart Publish time 25-11-2019 21:43:01

Another caveat is that if you open up a conversation about certain issues regarding one religion, you must also open it up about other religions that follow similar practises. A prime example being the most recent debate on teaching children about same sex relationships and how it is not just muslim schools that are against this, but they are being singled out.

Aj33 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:43:02

fair enough.

the key point for me is the difference between scrutinising and debating the merit of ideas which Islamaphobia try’s to shut down. Againstdemonising a people in anti-semitism.

with to my mind no idea being above scrutiny, then the two are not equal or the same.

Aj33 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:43:02

sorry just read your post again. The example you give of the Muslim protesters against same sex education and how this is one way.

am I right in saying they are protesting against a state school where there children go? If so they are not equivalent examples.

If people want to send their children to faith schools where it isn’t taught then it’s up to them.
