to caveat this post - no one regardless of race, creed and religion etc. should face any abuse etc.
the real problem is that people try to equate anti-semitism and Islamaphobia.
They are not the same thing. One is directed at a people who have historically been marginalised and millions persecuted and mass slaughtered. The other is a word made up initially by Islamic extremists to stifle and shutdown debate on a religion/belief/ideas.
all ideas should be up for debate and scrutiny and not all ideas are equal.
now if people within any walk of life are found to be racist toward the people (Muslims) then they should feel the weight of the law. However, scrutinising the religion and beliefs is a different kettle of fish this is where the accusation of Islamaphobia falls down because often it is used to shut down debate on ideas - not people. |
