Arrived today and to say that I am very very happy is an understatement. I lost the best part of 30 notes on the George Martin books overall but holding the book in my hand earlier made me forget that.
What book? A more or less mint (little ding) proof edition of Shield of Thunder by David Gemmell. Signed and dated and as I looked at the date realised that he signed it two weeks before he died.
This takes my proof editions to 7? And the only one I have signed.
Now you may think that's morbid but for me his books have made him live on and I still have not read the last two books deliberately as I know they are the last, and yes that means they have stayed on my shelf unread for the best part of 6 years.
Now excuse me I am off to stroke my book again data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

....and when they did, they found the book had been returned. Shipped back to me, and then my postman left it behind the bloody recycle bin that thankfully the missus spotted in the morning as it rained that afternoon.
I also bought Dodger the new Pratchett book (WHSmiths edition, half price), as well as a Dodger and a Snuff Waterstones sampler from ebay.

I think I have a few incoming from Goldsboro this week, quite a few pre-orders have just been released data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Out of interest though, do you read your 1st/1st signed books?I want to read a couple of mine but I don't want them to get damaged at all!

I know what you mean - I tend to do a lot of my reading on the tube to and from work and at luchtimes, were the kindle is something I can throw in and out of my bag. I just read Snuff, and removed the dustjacket, wrapped the book in bubble wrap then left it at work and read it at lunchtimes only, minimisng any potential damage, which is why it took longer to read - I read two (small) books on the kindle in the mean time!

You know the six degrees of Kevin Bacon? Like that but with less steps. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Nice! You're so lucky living in London and having access to signings and the big Waterstrone/FP/Foyles...
Is £35 for a signed Rivers a good buy?Lowest I've seen.
