Yes, it does. You turn the ignition on and the gear selector slowly rises and all the air vents open. It's pretty cool. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Nope. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Sometimes I even turn the climate off just to see them open and close. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Awesome! I did read that Apple no less designed the gear selector and riser thingy! I would certainly never tire of it haha, or those air vents data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Picked up from the VW dealer yesterday. It's much nicer than I expected it to be and is so comfortable and smooth to drive. The engine pulls well (CC GT 2.0 Petrol Manual) given the car's bulk and the build quality is BMW level. Over the previous decade we usually went for BMWs but sometimes a change works out well.
I'd driven the latest generation 3 Series Saloon (320 Sport) for two weeks last month and thought very highly of it, but this VW seems better still, although it definitely doesn't have as good a driving position as the BMW.
The only other option I wish I'd gone for now is the upgraded Dynaudio package for £865 or whatever it costs. The basic stereo is very average. I'm hoping it'll improve as times goes on but if it doesn't then I guess I'd need to look at aftermarket speakers and amps, which is something I'm unsure about. The retention certificate is currently being sorted out. Once it's back we'll put on our cherished number plate.

Yeah, there's minimal outside noise when you're driving the car, either from the engine or general road noise. My passenger couldn't notice gear changes yesterday as the transmission and accelerator are silky smooth. I'm just going to leave it in comfort mode as it suits the car best.
As you can see from the interior picture I've got the driver's seat titled quite far back. I have longish legs and arms and can thankfully reach everything but I still feel too high up in the seat despite it being as low as I can get it. Tilting it backwards is the only other option.
I'm using the new Shell Nitro Plus Super Unleaded and it seems to be working well with the engine. As I said everything is so smooth and refined, but I also noticed that the car pulled up a very steep hill in 3rd gear with barely any acceleration without any problem at all. It felt like there was ample torque to push us up the hill without feeling the effects of gravity pulling us back, and if I'd wanted to there seemed to be more than enough power to really boot it up that hill. It reminded me of my old E46 M3 which also chewed up gradients with ease.
I think I'll buy that 303 Aerospace Protectant to clean the synthetic leather.
