Sorry to hear that mate. What is the Mazda corrosion guarantee like? Was it Mazda you bought it from?
I thought most places did like a 6 year corrosion guarantee so you may be lucky and get them to cover the repairs.
My brother in law and in laws both have a mazda 3 (54 reg and 57 reg) and haven't noticed any rust issues with theirs. Hopefully mazda will sort it for you. If not, kick up a stink on twitter/facebook etc mentioning them so they see it and you might just find luck on your side. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

As far as understand it the corrosion guarantee doesn't include underbody, just a bodywork, but I'll double check.

I think the car's first years were spent on the coast and it didn't have a proper protection by the looks of it.

I'll see what they say and decide from there.

Thank you Kyle

I see a few people have the new Fiesta ST now. Was just wondering what mpg you're getting out of it in the real world. It has 47.9 mpg advertised, but I'd be amazed if it was close to that. Cheers.

I reckon I'll get 27-32 MPG around town and 40 MPG on a motorway/long run. Very similar to what my old Ford KA use to get! and what my dad gets in his Focus 1.6 Zetec.

Currently (200 miles on the clock) the MPG readout is showing 28 MPG for me.

The biggest problem is that the car goads you to put the pedal to the metal, more so than any other car I've driven and I'm a saint.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Exactly, smiles per mile are more important IMO data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The first thing my brother said when I got it? Don't worry about MPG and just enjoy it.

Yeah that's the trouble with my Focus ST. The fuel bill is crippling me and I really like the look of the Fiesta ST. I think I'm going to have to make the dreaded move to diesel though to make it worthwhile. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I hear what your saying. I'm coming from the other way and have only had eco cars and the ST is my treat after 15 years.

When I've had my fun I'll probably go to something comfortable and economical.

Just get a fast diesel. MPG when you want, and smiles when you want it.
A 330d or a remapped 320d should provide what you want. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
