That's as far North as we can get without a boat, so East it is.
Single track roads, sheep and the obligatory wave to other drivers passing. Tempted to fit a glove to a stick to do it for me

Seen a lot of salmon farms this week.

The countryside is much flatter, we've seen guys gathering peat in this area.

Google maps took us of piste on some questionable tracks but we don't mind.

A Titanic victim in the family graveyard.

Over the dunes to more beaches.

No more blue sea though, here it's a peaty brown from the rivers and streams.

Passed Doonreay.

Had a walk round Thurso but decided to move on. So quiet for a Saturday afternoon in the peak.

Spotted a nice hotel about 10m from John O'Groats and pulled in.

With the crappy £ / € rate, i'm thinking of doing North Coast 500 next year, but hotel / B&B prices are expensive.

The 500 is similar to our route so far.

Paid  between £75 and £110 per night in BnB's and hotels for two, so far.

Tonight we glamp, £50.

I holiday in Scotland nearly every year and if you need a good repellant, get Smidge. Works even better than Avon skin so soft which we have used for years.

Had a chat with German tourist who pointed out where the actual most northern point is, so we went.

Then on to John O'Groats. A 37 year journey complete.

A nearby lighthouse and rocks.

Headed south pulling in a few times.

Through a town with scarecrow on every corner. Some sort out event.

Stopped for a picnic on the beach.

Phoned ahead and booked a Pod for the night. Checked the webpage and realised we needed pillows and a duvet. I brought a disposable barbie just in case.A bit minimalistic.

Nice place but this is where the midge's live, so deeted up.
