I think this is an indication of the mentality of a lot of American golf fans rather than an indication of Americans in general - I'll say that first

I've hated the way American golf crowds behave for some years now and I wish they'd sort them out and try to stop all the mindless shouting etc. Why do they think that shouting "get in the hole" is a good thing to do It's even more stupid when they shout it from the tee on a par 5 hole

Agreed. I have to say I did also meet a fair few who actually came over mid "very loud and excited" celebrations to shake our hands and say congratulations

The "in the hole" shouts were something I was expecting and actually wasn't as bad as I thought in fairness

What got my back up was the "get in the water", "get I the bunker" and the constant cheering of clutch puts missed. Banter some wold say, bad sportsmanship I took it as!

Indeed, you just don't expect or want that kind of thing. You'd expect it for football matches but not golf.

But you know what that's what made the victory all the more sweeter. They were absolutely stunned and couldn't believe what had happened to them!

I'd give anything to have been there and to have been able to walk around with a smug grin on my face after the victory
