Well, no official handicap yet, but would guess at something between 18-24. Took up golf again last year, and have either been playing courses for practice, or going to the range at least once if not twice or so per week, and showing improvement. Have just signed up for 6 lessons with the local pro, to really get the fundamentals right......

I'm expecting the lessons will knock things around a bit for me (had learned to a degree to play around my issues), but when I enter some comps will let you know how I get on (but exoecting those to be later in the year).

Good Luck Joust,

Good idea with the lessons, although things may get worse before they get better for a short time, stick at it

Good look with the lessons....you will need loads of practice to get the changes the pro will make to feel natural.

eireann10,

you're not wrong there, but i'm fully expecting to play worse for a while, as the changes become more natural. I will be practising lots.....a quick 50 balls 3 or 4 times a week should do. Seems we not going to get out for a while anyway with the rubbish weather........

First Medal comp of the year I played to my handicap but got cut due to stableford rules (had a couple of birdies), I thought that was harsh..

There's a course near me that sounds similar. It is a 9 hole course and to play 18 holes you book 2 rounds.

The first and 10th holes are the same with all of the others using the same greens but playing from different tees, for example the 9th is a long par 4 but the 18th is a longish par 3 and both use the same green.

It's not as confusing as it sounds, honest
