Apparently pre-orders now are being told they may not be fulfilled on launch... Sounds like a Nikon marketing/PR ploy to me but hey ho.

In Europe next week so will try and have a play with it in a store somewhere.

New chart showing the D850 at base as well now. Same DR at base as the D810 with marginally better DR overall. Looking very good for Nikon this camera

Will try and order one to replace my D800 at some point. However, not going to do it this year.

So I see UK pricing confirmed at £3500.

Cue the grey imports. A totally baffling price when US equivalent is almost £1000 cheaper and is where I'll be ordering from

In fact even paying full import duty you still have around £450 left to cover shipping before it makes sense to buy in UK

Before I buy this camera I'll wait for some real world tests and scores, then I'll wait a year to see if there's any QC issues, then I'll wait a further 2-3years before there's a chance I can afford it buying grey

Im off to the US at the end of the year, wonder how much the price will have come down by then

By which time you'll have the D860 on the shopping list [emoji23][emoji23]

If the D810 pricing is anything to go by (and I expect it to fare better given feature comparison to high end D5)... Will take some time for a sniff of a price drop

Just wait for a lightly used one to turn up for a sensible price. I bought my D810 in Jan 2015 for under £2k and it was essentially new. (966 shots taken) Registered it with nikon and got the full warranty too. I probably got lucky though.

Can you post the calculation figures here? (I can't seem to find accurate duty & vat figs).
