Its quite a sad state of affairs, seem to do it with electronics in particular.
I'm currently in exile in a place with no tax but things cost c20% more than in UK. It's mad but retailers get away with it because of "shipping costs" (they must send each item individually!) and the fact that residents have high disposable income.
It's disgusting the UK consumer is taken for such a ride when you consider any person living outside the EU could walk into a Dixons, buy the D850, claim back the 20% VAT then leave the country. |
