I think you've got yourself all confused buddy, I was talking about the stick cam NOT the door bell. I already know there are two versions of the door bell and I have the Pro version mentioned before.

Hi
I have just received my video doorbell and have a few questions.

I have an LG G3 I have just replaced with a redmii note 3 (awesome phone by the way)

I have installed the ring app on both phones along with my pc with the windows 10 app.

I have set ring and motion sensor to notify myself via an alert.

The alerts to the pc and the LG G3 are almost instantaneous for both bell push and motion - however the Redmii Note 3 gets a pretty on the ball alert for a door bell press - but no alert for motion detection ??

Does anybody have any idea why ? It must be a setting on the phone - but what can it be - as the bell press alert works fine.

I must say the video quality is stunning even though only 720p - I do have a 200 meg up and 12 down virgin bband connection so that helps.

I put "speedtest" on my phone and stood at front door to see how the 2.4 wifi would perform as I use 5.0 for almost everything else - and its a rock solid 12 upload.

My drive is quite short - maybe only 8 feet from my porch to my front gate - my car is parked just beyond this point and my field of vision with the fish eye lense covers almost all the front of my house and also my car.

I think I will adjust the sensitivity UP at night to cover my car and knock it down in the mornings - we live in an extremely quiet area and there is virtually nil foot/road traffic during the night hours.

Its going to be trial and error- but along with the pir led lights I've just had fitted to our new porch then I feel my security has increased dramatically.

One problem I did have was fixing the bell onto its back plate - it would just not go on at all - rang ring support and they told me to remove the weather proof seal around the backplate !! Hardly the most scientific solution - but it worked - they have sent me an email saying that if it ever fails due to weather damage they will replace free of charge. Its actually under a gutter and is pretty sheltered - but only time will tell............

Also there's no mention of how to factory reset the device should you encounter set up problems - you hold in the orange button for 20 seconds - then let go - it will flash then it will be back to factory settings.

Shame no live video option on battery power - but I understand why - hopefully will come in time.

I always have concerns with Xiaomi and other chinese devices over notifications.  I recall one of them just didn't bother telling me if I had a Hangouts message, the main way my family would communitcate.

Still, if doorbell noti's are coming through, odd motion isn't?  Obvious question, in the app on the Redmi they are set to notify you, right?  They have to be set in each app on each device.

Hi - yes both motion and ring alerts are set in the ring app - and also on the phone itself under apps and permissions its set to show notifications and also lock screen notifications and notification light.

Its all a bit strange .............

Hi - ok I deleted the app from the Note 3 and reinstalled it - all working ok now - have no idea why - it just is.

Please don't laugh when I ask this - but is there any way on my android phone to change the notification sound the phone makes when its activated ?

The notification for the motion detection is extremely low - even at full volume.

I know I will probably end up switching this off with all the false activations - but just thought I would ask.

Hmm, to change the notification sound for a single app, you might need a 3rd party app to do this.

Maybe something like this?  NotifierPro Heads-up Free - Android Apps on Google Play
