Storing uncompressed or using lossless compression should leave you with bit perfect copies of your CD's. I would go for it and the worst that could happen is you might want to consider a DAC if you are not happy with the sound because the fundamentals are there.

My favourites are TDK CD-RXG (80min) - never had a failure yet (touch wood). Many others from 'good' manufacturers (eg. JVC, Sony etc) work fine too, though the bulk buy cake CD-Rs from Maplins etc are probably best avoided ...

Probably best not to be rude when asking for help, especially with a thread that was first opened in 2005.

If you are patient, and refresh the thread occasionally,or even ask some of the persons who posted on this originally via PM,then you should be able to get an answer to your problem.

If not refreshed, threads tend to disappear very rapidly on a busy forum area.

Hi guys
my first post here. This seemed the most likely place i get my dilema answered.

Had my CDRHD1500 for a while now and i'm growing a little concerned with if it's possible to fit a new cd writing drive without too much fuss.

Can i for example just use a standard cdr/rw writer or am i rather stuck when it comes to dealing with this.

thanks in advance for any help on this

It depends on the file system used on the drive, its a non proprietory one then you just need software like partition magic on the pc, connect the drive and a backup of preferably the same size but not essential as bigger will work too.

Select copy image/partition in the options and you should be able to make an exact copy.

I've done this for my pc over the last few years when ever i've got a new hardrive i've just copy the existing one over this way, and then expanded the partion to take up the extra room.

With what you've said, perhaps i'm getting this a little wrong. It appears that you are talking about backing up a hardrive which it is no doubt very helpful, but i'm actually wondering if i can put a different cd writer in place of what is there already.

Many thanks for your time here
