Not played for a week and I didn't realise this is free to play until the 17th! Certainly worth a try if you've been worried about what it's like.

Coming from Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4 - I hated this. Admittedly I haven't played since that first week after launch, but a multi-player game without NPCs is just not my cup of tea. Everywhere you go you're too late and everybody is dead. I got sick of playing endless voice recordings of long-dead characters, sending me on hollow quests.

I'm glad to hear that they're going to introduce a new campaign with NPCs soon. I'll check it out again then.

Yeah they're quite determined to get this up to the standards people expect. I'm kind of glad I picked it up when it was rock bottom as I think the price will keep going back up the better it gets.

Patch 11.5 is being deployed at the moment. Servers should be live by 6.00pm GMT. Patch notes are here. It's meat week!

Created a new character a day or so back to see how the new player experience is and it's pretty decent. Going to go 2 handed melee as I park my stealth sniper for a bit.  Still having a load of fun with this. Been using the nukedragons site for planning how my new toon will look like at end game. Worth checking out if you've not come across it before.

Well that's meat week over. I thought it was pretty good fun for an event.  The BBQ was amusing with most of the players on the map coming together each hour.  Managed to make a lot of scrip from the primal meat as well as a lot of legendary weapons from the hunts (which I also turned to scrip).

I was lucky enough to get the Tenderizer which will be perfect for me once I hit level 50 with my new 2handed toon. I didn't get any of the chef outfits which was a shame but I'm dead happy with the Tenderizer. Currently up to level 34 and can handle herself nicely at the Whitesprings Golf Club. I actually finished the "unruly golfers" quest which was something I was not able to do with my stealth sniper.

I've been having a look at the upcoming patch 12 content. I ilke the idea of display cases. People are already making some really cool bases so it will be a nice addition to show things off.  I think the big thing for me is making it harder to accidently sit on chairs or drink water from a river. Number of times I've been in a battle only to sit on a chair!

I am loving this game - picked it up last week. I have no interest in the multiplayer aspects of it and basically you can ignore the online aspects if you want. As a solo game it works very well. I actually prefer it to fallout 4.

Glad you are enjoying it.  It deserved a kicking at launch but it's a whole lot of fun now. You only really need to party up for some of the end game content. With most of the quests as long as you are in the area and you take part (shoot/hit baddies) you will get the rewards and a lot of these can be done solo too.

It's always nice to bump into someone else on your travels and give them a thumbs up. Even better is now you can fast travel to other players bases. Some of these are pretty darn funky.
