i was thinking about this the other day to! surely with all that space on a bluray disc they can get a decent flight sim up and running? partner it up with a company like google, and it would be something special - I find flight sim games almost theraputic

My living room is fast filling with plastic peripherals, some flight controls like those released for the 360 wouldnt hurt

Considering the development lead times, I wouldn't hold your breath. I am looking forward to HAWX, but it's definitely a 'game' rather than a 'sim'.

lol there is no flight sim mode currently but there is nothing the iphone can't do, it's only a matter of time!! MUWAHAHAhahahahaha! As for why isn't there a flight sim on the PS3 I guess the target audience just isn't there. It's usually the PC crowd who are into their hardcore sims.

I would consider myself one of the "PC crowd", but maybe not so much anymore. Consoles like the PS3 have got much better over the years, much closer to PCs in terms of what they can produce. Keeping a PC up to date for the latest games can be a chore and a money pit so I've pretty much given up.

Bought a PS3 about 6mths ago, mainly as a Blu-ray player for the new 42" LCD, but with games, streaming video etc in mind too. I'd say I'm much more likely to buy PS3 games than PC games now, but that also means I'd love to see things like Medieval Total War and the likes on ther PS3, not just a stream of racing games and first-person-shooters (PS3 World of Warfare or Eve Online anyone?). Oh, another benefit of a console, stick the game in and you can be almost certain it'll play, and play as good as it was designed too. With the large range of PC specs you're never quite sure with a PC game.

Not quite the case anymore unfortunately!  With a built in HDD it's making things easier for PS3 devs to go down the 'release now - patch later' route ever more frequently.

From what I see the PS3 is slowly morphing into a PC - the best PC I've ever had though, so this isn't really a moan, more of an observation

Yeah, I was more thinking of the PS3 being as set of fairly standardised hardware, unlike PCs where no two are ever quite the same hardware-wise. With a PS3 there's not likely to be a game that won't run, or crashes, because you haven't updated your graphics driver in 2 years. Or runs fine on your mates 4GHz Quad Core with a graphics card that needs it's own dedicated connection to the national grid, but runs like a dog on your 4yr old system that used to be state-of-the-art but no-longer is. Whacking a new game into a PS3 just seems much less hassle.

Yep that's true...at least you know PS3 games will work out the box at least.  It's just a tad annoying that with some games you won't get the optimal experience until a patch is released; e.g. am waiting to play BioShock until they release the patch to sort the graphic glitches!

I don't think the PS3 would have the memory. Medieval Total war has also come up and again keeping track of lots of stuff needs a lot of memory. If you are talking about the older versions of the games from a few years ago it might work.
