Is there a PS3 game comparable to Flight Simulator X on PC ?

Hi !

In good old days, I used to enjoy myself very much with a PC based game called Flight Simulator.  Nowadays, it seems to be Flight Simulator X from Microsoft, still on PC.

I was wondering if there is any PS3 equivalent to this ?
Or another game where flying skills can be exercised ?  I'm not so much in the fly and shoot games, more about navigation, meteo, take off and landing, ... the civil aviation so to say ?

Alternatively, would connecting the pc to a 50' plasma panel (Samsung 50A756) give any good results ?

Afraid not! There's a real shortage of ANY flying games on the PS3. I didn't take to Blazing Angels, but HAWX looks good when it eventually comes out.

You could actually learn to fly.... I have flight sim for the PC but I find it tedious.

This wouldn't be a problem if Google released Google Earth on the PS3 - it has a built in flight simulator
Of course, you can sign my petition to get Google Earth on the PS3 (link in my signature)
Also, and now I'm being cheeky  , but feel free to advertise my petition anywhere and anyhow you like.

About £6k to get your PPL..... so yes, but it depends where your priorities lie. Some people may spend that on their home AV set up.

In the mean time, I downloaded and tried to install the playable trial version of  flight simulator X, but I was unable to install it.  Gave some strange error message, that I was not having the rights to install it, although i'm the admin of this computer.

But, I found a nice alternative for it, called FlightGear.  Freeware
Installed it without any problem, and made my first test flights, and my first crashes
Plays very well although my computer is not equipped with high level video card.

I'm sure my son (and I) will like this

Still, Google Earth's flight sim is fantastic

EDIT: Just found a flight sim called X-Plane. Apparently that's the best out there.

EDIT 2: Just found out it's not free. Costs a bomb. Also, it needs 70GB of install space! C'mon, that's just crazy!

sunnybacon, google earth was released for iphone yesterday!!! hehe! sorry just had to rub it in. its one of my favourtite apps ever! i like trying to find the most desolate, deserted place...keeps me occupied for hours!

I want a proper flight sim for the PS3 more than anything else to be honest. Most of the games coming out seem to be the same old boring stuff.

I think the PS3 would handle a flight sim brilliantly - someone must release one in the future(??) - Would have my money if they did.

indeed, quite unbelievable that no game developper ever thought that way.
I'm certainly not a specialist in this field, but I would assume that the PS3 platform would be strong enough to capture one hell of a flight simulator.

And, many people who are bored with yet another wargame would be pleased to see some kind of variety !

How can we contact the major game publisher to push them to develop such a game ?
