Yah, but the infrastructure is in place for the PS4 to make it much smoother.  I honestly think the hardware is what throttles PS3 download speeds and not the network.

Also, most of the downloading for PS4 will be done in the background while not sacrificing gameplay.  I think that really is a moot point if that's your only reason for not making the switch.

I'm not disagreeing Det (my knowledge of PSN is limited), but I would imagine the downloads being bottlenecked by hardware these days is pretty rare.

It is 7 year old tech so...

and there were plenty of limitations with PS3 hardware (i.e. unable to have x game chat because of it)... so Sony have learned from their mistakes and made a lot of upgrades and features available with PS4.

A cool feature of the PS4 is it learns from your download history and will even tailor what you see and what's downloaded on your machine.  Like say for instance you've been buying some JRPG's on the store... one day when you wake up, it downloaded the newest release and it's on your screen for you to buy the unlock code to start playing right away.  Don't want it?  Click "no thanks" or whatever and it will delete in the background while you play.

I think people are underestimating how much better the PS4 promises to be.  And how much it will be reducing wait times to play the games you want.

Keep in mind, I'm no expert though and I could just be talking out of my arse, but that's what makes sense to me.  And with PS Plus being charged for online access, they've said they will use it to make the network better.  So if it was their network, I can only imagine they'll get rid of those bottlenecks using the extra revenue.

Looking for some advice please.

Basically was reading this thread and thought I'd get the PS  for year especially as I'll need it for when I get the PS4 ( i have a PS3 at the moment). Now this evening I had two games in my cart BF3 and something else which are free if you have PS . I accidentally hit the confirm purchase while in my cart before purchasing the PS , so basically got charged for the games first.

I've just called playstation support and they said there as nothing they can do to refund the cost of the games. Is this correct as it seems very unfair to treat a customer like this especially since I've had the account since PS3 launched.

Cheers

Yah, that sucks, but it does bring up a confirmation before it charges your account so there really isn't much you can do about it.

I made a similar mistake a few months ago.  Now I "checkout" as soon as I put something in the cart and make it prompt me with a password before it lets me buy stuff.

Oh well like you say my fault, and I did get confirmation but the controller slipped when I hit it by mistake on the confirm button. Just be nice if there was a work around rather than point blank tuff luck from customer service. I'm pretty sure they could refund me considering I just purchased the PS  as they knew exactly what I was trying to do.

You won't get a refund i'm afraid.
Missus let my 6yr old son play gt5 whilst i was at work the other day and he somehow managed to add funds to my wallet and spend over a tenner on car/track packs!

I've now also set it to prompt for a password before any transactions

Yeah that's what I explained to them but they said they couldn't issue refunds or even credit! Customer service agent then put me on hold to speak to a product manager so I assume they were thinking about a refund but decided against it for some reason.

CS also said they would cancel my account if I tried to claim the money back via my credit card!
