That would be me
It's funny how people who spend a certain amount can't understand how anyone could live on anything less.
For us, it's all down to proper organising and planning the weekly shop in accordance with a set menu that my wife does every week before getting the groceries.
Below was our "menu" for last week. Bear in mind that I normally work away from home from Monday-Thursday at least 2 weeks per month, so that leaves my wife and 3 children. Also bear in mind that my wife eats like a budgie
Mon: Potatoes, beans, sausages and gravy
Tues: Homemade lasagne, homemade garlic bread, salad.
Weds: Pizza/Nuggets with Chips
Thurs: Potatoes, veg, peppered chicken/pork
Fri: Homemade fish pie, potatoes/chips
Sat: Mini fry-up for lunch, Homemade burgers in baps with salad in the evening
Sun: Sunday Roast, homemade Thai Green curry in the evening.
The above obviously does not include lunches or snacks.
We were never this strict before on our spending, but we wasted so much money and food by not being organised. |
