Although I did wonder if there was some dodgy BBC editing in there all too often to make us have more forced sympathy, was the old guy not a smoker too?

I visited my local butchers supermarket today for the first time (George Bolam's at Sedgefield) and have found that the meat there is half the price we've been paying in the supermarkets. Fruit and veg is also miles cheaper, I wish I'd done this years ago, I reckon we can save a good £50 a week easy

We have a delivery from Tesco every Sunday and for 4 of us, two adults and 2 children we spend £40-50 a week, this includes all main food, drink and household stuff. We then buy fruit and veg every Saturday from Newark market and that costs £10-12. So that's between £200 - 250 a month max and we eat like kings!!

I wish I knew how you did it, the Mrs can get £50 worth of stuff in 2 carrier bags at the supermarket.  Having said that today we got 20 chicken breasts, 4 chicken thighs, 8 lamb chops, 8 burgers, 32 sausages (not that we usually eat that many burgers and sausages) 20k of spuds, 10 apples, mushrooms, tomatos, kiwi fruit, carrots, onions, eggs, foil and probably a couple of other things for just over £50, very impressed.

Hi
We got 2 adults 4 children and a cat and on average we spend £200 per week on just food. We think that is too much. We spend £800 per month on just food, we also spend about £400 onother things per month. Is that normal?? We need to change that very fast. We only eat home aswell no fastfoods or things like that!!!!
