I've done the 70.3 a couple of times and it's the same set of hills. It's not that steep but boy is it long. The descent is fine provided you haven't removed your brain.

Had back trouble at Staffs 70.3, but dosed up on painkillers in each transition had was ok - I'm kicking myself because it didn't even cross my mind to do the same again even though I'd packed some in my kit bag...

Signed up for IM UK, and quite tempted by Wales after watching the race on YouTube...

your back issues resolved then? IM wales would be a test with a bad back.

i'm doing Lanza in 6 weeks, getting it out of the way early this year so i can have a few beers/ic creams over the summer!!

Back has been OK, it was sore for a few months  after IM Mallorca but I've been giving yoga a go, and not had any aches or pains following long rides on the turbo so fingers crossed!

Lanza is a tough one - good luck for that one. It's most triathletes "to do" list and I've got in earmarked as a future event.

Just Mallorca 70.3 for myself this year to keep in the habit.

Doing a few 50-60 mile ultras this year and some marathons. They take a ton less dental energy than iron distance!

Keeping it short this year as my wife is doing her thing this year so do not have the time for all the training. Wales is a great event and well worth doing.

yup, was on the long term plan for next year as i'd be turning 40 same week as the race, , but some family events for next year meant the wife suggested i do it this year. was always one i wanted to chalk off, probably not my ideal course at 6'1/77kg, flat course i'd be looking at 5 hours  ish on the bike but here god knows.

looking forward to it though. even more, i'm looking forward to having my big race out of the way early int he year and enjoying the summer, the last 4 years have been focused on an A rac in august or September .
