I've just been adding them slowly. I have 3 wired and the 4th is battery which I will be putting up at the weekend.

Not sure how long they last but the fact the wife even commented how good they were.

I was at work a few months back and got an alert telling me there Was smoke in the kitchen. Immediately phoned home and the Mrs had burnt my dinner!
The way they integrate with the Thermostat is really nice too.

I think if you bought one, the peace of mind it gives will make you want more to protect the family.

Yes I totally agree. It's just the thought of spending £400 each 5yrs.

This is the best article I could  find (7 years) and raises good points for and against

Here's what happens when your $129 Nest Protect expires after 7 years | VentureBeat | Gadgets | by Ricardo Bilton

And a very informative review here

Ok 7 years.  And appreciate they might cost less then or they might offer some sort of trade in.  Regardless it's still a lot to spend out on something that HAS to be replaced.

Still looking to get some though. Haha like we say.  For the NEST thermos it only improves the product

Discovered another thing I really like about the Thermostat.

It allows you to put a lock code on it, which not only helps with young ones thinking it's a fancy iPhone 6 stuck on the wall, but before locking it asks for your minimum and maximum temperature settings. Now the Mrs is always turning the dial right the way up and I do mean right the way up, so as a result the thermostat was always up and down more times that a tarts knickers as the saying goes.  I knew that when i am out I would be able to use the app to check the temp and change it, but I didn't know I could set a max

As a result I've set it to a max of 21 safe in the knowledge that once the house is heated to that I'm no longer burning money! Not sure it will be good for the marriage but the savings I make will pay for the solicitor.

Nice little touch...really does look like they have thought things through in the few years since launch.

The lock idea is cool too, but luckily my little girl is still a foot away from the height this will be on the wall.

Had another NEST arrive today for a friends house so just wating for a call for the install on that one as well

I got mine fitted today (a day early), all working nicely. A bit of an anticlimax though, not really much to do with it once it's installed. I'm sure whilst I'm at work tonight I'll just keep checking the temperature through the night.
It's almost a shame the weather is so nice today.

haha agreed, wish they had launched in the winter. I have been remote accessing to check the temperature upstairs and downstairs for no other reason than because I can. Ok there was an element to see if it works but that was about it.

Damn only been at work 2 hours and my Nest is now offline. How am I going to needlessly check the temp at home all night!
