Nest launches in uk tomorrow...

I was looking into one of these last year but were not available in the UK, I went for a Heatmiser WiFi room stat @ £140 and could not be happier (self install replacing original stat) what does the Nest give extra to anything else (apart from look cool!)

I ordered on Nest's website and within half an hour I had a phone call to book fitting (Birmingham company are coming to do it). It was posted on Thursday and I think it arrived on Friday (I was at work so picking up on Monday).
Getting it fitted on Thursday.
I also ordered the stand as I want to put the control in my lounge (I don't think the auto away will work with where my current one is).

Wish I had bought from Nest directly, but went for Amazon as I have a Prime account so get next day delivery. As it turns out, Amazon next day took 2 days before they sent it so three days in total.

Nest have contacted me (via Facebook no less) and say they'll update me tomorrow with what's going on.

Nest are including free next day delivery as well anyway.

When you ordered from nest could you set your own install date? or did you have a few dates to select? Anyone? I can order Monday but can't get it installed to May but the free install is to good a offer to miss if I can stall install...Also I will replace the thermostat in hall but would like one in my bedroom on a stand as no thermostat upstairs is it worth the outlay or just use mobile app.....?

You have to select three dates (1st, end and 3rd preference). I'm not sure how far in advance you can select.
You then get a phone call from your closest approved fitting company, they will then compare your preferences against what they've got available.

Is anyone going down the DIY installation route?
If your system already has a thermostat, am I right in saying that the heat link just wires straight in,  in its place?

Thinking of it.

My setup is that currently I have a Honeywell wireless thermostat which has a control box similar the the Heat Link. It is currently wired in to the timer, bypassing the hot water control as it doesn't do hot water.

In 'theory' I should just be able to replace this control box.

In practice, I'm not entirely sure!

I am in the same boat regarding the original thermostat. Not sure if I can just put the heat link in its place or not.

Was tempted by this but the data isn't available to download would have been nice to keep tabs on useage etc. We don't have a thermostat at all currently.
Will monitor still as I do like the look of the product just seems a bit too locked down for me
