May has always been combative. I guess the question in regards to her is will a new leader keep her at the Home Office or put her out to pasture on the backbenches. IDS always seems to have some kind of scheme going on.
You do understand the concept of a stalking horse candidate ? It triggers a leadership election, then once the serious side of it starts the stalking horse steps aside in favour of a candidate who can win. It's exactly the kind of thing IDS would do if he's angry enough. He's still sore/angry from the hatchet job Cameron and co inflicted upon him when he was leader. Revenge is a dish best slow cooked over many years and then served ice cold.
Of course IDS might not be the stalking horse himself, but you can be sure he'll likely be instrumental in getting a leadership challenge against Cameron started. He's gone out of his way to destroy Osborne's chances at the leadership. That letter was full of venom aimed at the double act that is Cameron and Osborne. The knives are being sharpened and the end might be nigh once the EU vote is out of the way (result does not matter either way). |
